Itinerary Details:

Day 01: Kathmandu (1337m)

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our team will meet you at the airport, extend a warm welcome, assist you, and transfer you to your designated hotel. Before dinner, our tour manager will provide a brief orientation about the Kailash and Mansarovar Yatra, covering routes and essential do's and don'ts. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing

After breakfast at the hotel, drive on a tour to Shri-Pashupatinath Temple and Budhanilkhantha (Sleeping Vishnu) Temple. Continue your visit to Swyambhunath Stupa. The remaining time is dedicated to preparing for the Kailash Yatra. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Timure (2720m)

Early in the morning, post-breakfast at the hotel, board on a bus journey northwest of the Kathmandu valley, passing through beautiful villages and towns. The scenic drive of over 9 hours takes you to Timure Via Syavrubesi, the gateway to Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and the Tamang Heritage trail, reflecting the Tamang population.

Day 04: Timure to Kerung (2600m)

From Kerung, the journey continues with a 30 min drive to the Nepal-Tibet (China) border called Rasuwagadhi. After completing all immigration and customs formalities in both countries, proceed to Kerung village for an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 05: Kerung to Saga (4100m)

After a restful stay in Kerung, the journey today continues with a drive to the world’s highest Tibetan Plateau of Inner Tibet, with dry landscapes. The road joins from Nyalam and Zgangmu near the beautiful lake, Paikutsho. Upon crossing a small pass and a bridge, reach Saga town for an overnight stay at hotel.

Day 06: Acclimatization Day in Saga

Today is dedicated to acclimatizing to the higher altitude. Explore Kerung village, visit nearby markets, temples, and monasteries. Kerung is a significant trading village with Nepal. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 07: Saga to Lake Mansarovar (4560m)

After breakfast in Saga, drive through the pass, descending across the long stretch of Tibetan plains, passing villages, yak herders' camps, and reaching a village at Parayang. Continue the drive to Mansarovar Lake via Myam-la and Horchu town. In the evening, marvel at the spectacular views of Holy Lake Mansarovar. Overnight stay at guest houses.

Day 08: Mansarovar to Darchen (4560m)

Early morning, after breakfast, our staff will guide you for the circumambulation of Mansarovar Lake, and at the same time, you can have free time for Puja and Hawan on the bank of Mansarovar Lake. After completing the 105 km circumambulation of Holy Lake Mansaovar, the journey continue with a 1-hour drive to Darchen, the base camp of Mount Kailash. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 09: Darchen to Diraphuk (4890m)

After breakfast, the Yatra leads to Tharboche, also known as Shershong, about 15 minutes' drive. On the way, visit Yam Dewar, believed to rid one of the fears of death and allow the Yatra to proceed without any problems. After circumambulation and entrance through this Dwar, the Kora or Parikrama of Kailash Parbat begins. You will meet your horse, horseman, and porter for the Yatra. From here, the group will divide into two parts, one continuing the Yatra and another returning from Yam Dwar. Those unable to complete the Parikrama will return to the same hotel in Darchen. The trek from here to Diraphuk is about 6 hours, covering 16km gradually uphill walking with magnificent views of Kailash's south and north face and the terrain landscape. Reach Diraphuk for Purna lingam Darsan of Kailash Parbat in front of your lodge. Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 10: Diraphuk to Zuthulphuk (4790m)

Morning, after breakfast and Puja of Kailash Parbat, head to Zuthulphuk. Today is the most challenging walk of this Kailash Yatra. Walk uphill until reaching Dolma-la at the highest point of this Yatra, 5630m. From here, the Yatra leads downhill with beautiful views and Darsan of Ganesh Kunda and Gauri Kunda. Reach Zuthulphuk for an overnight stay in guest houses.

Day 11: Zuthulphuk to Saga

After breakfast, the Yatra concludes with a 3-hour walk to Mani wall. Your vehicle will pick you up from the Mani wall, and you'll drive to Saga village via Darchen. Overnight stay at guest houses.

Day 12: Saga to Kerung

After breakfast in Saga, begin a scenic 4–5-hour drive covering approximately 105 km toward Kerung. The route passes through high Tibetan plateaus, mountain views, and a few checkpoints before gradually descending into the greener Kerung valley. On arrival, check into your hotel and relax, preparing for the border crossing into Nepal the next day.

Day 13: Kerung to Kathmandu

After completing border formalities at Kerung, begin your drive toward Kathmandu, covering around 135 km in 7–8 hours. The journey descends from the Tibetan highlands into Nepal’s lush hills, passing through winding mountain roads, riverside valleys, and small local towns. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, check into your hotel and relax after the long scenic drive.

Day 14: Departure

After breakfast, our staff will guide you with a vehicle for your departure transfer to the airport.

Note: All Foreign / NRI Nationals are required to obtain Mainland China Visa in their home country as the visa processing time in Kathmandu by The China Embassy takes minimum 7-8 Working Days. Therefore, we strongly suggest that the clients arrive to Kathmandu with Mainland China Visa to avoid any delays.

The Year 2026 is The Horse Year which occurs once every 12 years. It is believed that a Single Yatra during The Horse Year is equivalent to 12 Kailash Yatra. A large number of local Tibetans as well as Chinese tourist will be travelling to The Kailash area next year. Therefore, we suggest timely booking for the trip.

General Information

  • Must have Passports with a minimum of 6 months validity from the departure date.
  • Scan copy of passport front page, (photo page), Last page (address page), and color scan photo with white background as per Passport size MRP must be sent to Apoorva’s official email address before 30 days of departure date.
  • Basically, the permit will come before the 10-12 days departure date, so the passport needs to be sent personally or Currier with a reliable Currier service provider at the address of our representatives in Delhi for the China visa process. Where the Visa process takes 10-12 days before the departure date.
  • Be sure that the Passengers traveling to Nepal by air must have the Election Card (voter Id) if incase passport remains in the Chinese Visa Section in Delhi, you will receive your passport in Nepal only. And the Election card is only valid to travel to Nepal Via Airline.
  • Passengers who are traveling to Nepal via road have at least an Adhar card they have
  • Do not issue the ticket until we get permit for yatra
  • Age Limit: For Indian passport holders, the maximum permissible age for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is 69 years. If, when calculating for 2026, your age comes to 69 years or below based on your date of birth, you are eligible to join the pilgrimage

Health condition: For Indian passport holders, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a high-altitude pilgrimage (up to 5,630 m at Dolma La). Hence, medical fitness is essential. Below are the health conditions and eligibility guidelines generally followed by operators and authorities:

Who Can Join (Medically Fit Pilgrims)

  • Physically and mentally fit individuals, typically 18–69 years (some routes allow up to 75 with strong fitness).
  • Able to walk 5–8 hours per day at high altitude on uneven terrain.
  • Good cardio-respiratory endurance and general stamina.
  • Stable blood pressure and blood sugar levels (well-controlled with medication).
  • Cleared by a doctor after medical check-up and fitness certification.

Who Should NOT Join / Need Special Caution

  • Severe heart disease (recent heart attack, bypass surgery, heart failure).
  • Chronic lung diseases (COPD, severe asthma, pulmonary fibrosis).
  • Uncontrolled hypertension or diabetes.
  • History of stroke, epilepsy, or severe neurological disorders.
  • Kidney failure, severe liver disease, or cancer under active treatment.
  • Pregnant women.
  • Severe psychiatric illness.
  • Individuals with repeated acute mountain sickness (AMS) history.

Mandatory / Strongly Recommended

  • Full medical check-up (ECG, blood pressure, sugar, oxygen saturation).
  • Travel & high-altitude insurance (mandatory).
  • Prior walking/fitness training for at least 6–8 weeks.
  • Willingness to follow acclimatization rules and medical advice during Yatra.

Mode of Payment

  • A non-refundable 25% of the total package cost is required at the time of booking to secure your Yatra.
  • The remaining balance must be paid at least 15 days prior to the Kailash Mansaovar Yatra departure date.

Yatra Cancellation Policy

  • All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to the office of Alex Hospitality Services
  • Verbal or phone cancellations are not accepted.
  • 45 days before departure: 25% of the total Yatra cost will be deducted.
  • 30 days before departure: 50% of the total Yatra cost will be deducted.
  • Within 15 days of departure: No refund will be provided under any circumstances.
